Stung by their dismis- sal for a paltry 123 in the previous game against the Kiwis, the West Indians destroyed the hapless attack after electing to bat first on a slow wicket. Brian Lara, returning to the team after serving a one-match suspension, made 69 and Keith Arthurton slammed 45 off 46 balls to boost the score in a match which takes the winner into the final with hosts India on Saturday. New Zealand`s left-arm spinner Matthew Hart, who claimed a career-best five for 22 in the last match against the West Indi- ans, was hammered for 34 runs in five overs. Simon Doull suffered 65 runs hit off his nine overs. Seamer Dion Nash was the most successful bowler with three for 48 from 10 overs, including the wicket of Phil Simmons in his first over. Hooper, who came in at a shaky 45 for two, added 111 for the third wicket with Lara and 103 for the fourth with Arthurton to leave the Kiwis a stiff vic- tory target of 6.2 runs an over.
