The Christchurch Press - 19-21 March 1999 Day 1: CD take charge of final NAPIER - A five-wicket bag by left-armer Lance Hamilton gave Central Districts an early grip on the Shell Trophy cricket final against Otago at McLean Park in Napier yesterday. Central dismissed Otago for 164 and was 63 for one at stumps on the opening day of five. Hamilton, the least experienced member of Central's pace attack, was the most impressive as the Otago batsmen struggled on a wicket with good pace and bounce. He made the initial breakthrough after a steady start by Otago, removing both opening batsmen within nine balls. Hamilton claimed his best trophy figures of five for 43 off 21 overs, while Penn, who claimed his 100th first-class wicket against Otago at Alexandra earlier in the week, took three for 57 from 20.
