[ Complete profile of Balwinder Sandhu ]

On bowling in Pakistan wickets:

Basically I was a swing bowler. The condition was just like Delhi...I don't think I bowled badly. There were a few decisions which went against us. [Video | Audio]

On the famous victory against West Indies in 1982-83 series just before the '83 World Cup:

That was the first time I think we beat West Indies in One day game. That gave us a lot of confidence and we felt that this team can be beaten. [Video | Audio]

World Cup'83: Final - [Match Scorecard]

On the spirit of World Cup winning team:

The credit must go to the previous tour we went to the West Indies. The atmosphere in the dressing room and off the field was more of a family get together. We used to have lot of fun. [Video | Audio]

On West Indies' comeback in a Test match after being 1 for 3:

I got Haynes out in my first over. Kapil got Viv Richards out in his second over. Then again I got Greenidge bowled. The next ball Lloyd was plumb in front of the wicket.....and was not given out. [Video | Audio]

[Scorecard] [DL Haynes] [Viv Richards] [CG Greenidge] [CH Lloyd] [HA Gomes]

On how he took to swing(fast) bowling in a land of spinners::

Accidentally. I was a spinner. In 1979 I played for Bombay University as an off spinner and in 1980-81 for Bombay as a seamer. I grew because all my friends were fast bowlers and they used to talk about fast bowling. Listening to them, I picked up fast bowling. [Video | Audio]

On his advice for any young fast bowler to bowl on pitches in Indian coditions:

In India, if you want any fast bowler to survive , he must learn to swing the ball. Not only he has to bowl quick but he has to learn to swing the ball. It will take long time for conditions to improve. It is upto the bowler to work it out how he can swing the ball. [Video | Audio]

On his being coach of the recently victorious Mumbai team:

After I retired, I was aimless with no goals. I was working in office as Officer marketing. But I was not enjoying the job..... I started enjoying coaching. Then I came into contact with Frank Tyson. [Video | Audio]

His words as coach to promising young cricketers:

As a player I believed in one philosophy. That if you are good nobody can stop you going up except God. And that is the philosophy I believe even as a coach. That is what I teach them. To believe in their performance, to believe in their ability, and keep working hard on their game. [Video | Audio]
