MATCH 5 : Hong Kong v Pakistan July 18 , 2004

  • The 3rd wicket partnership of 223 runs between Shoaib Malik and Younis Khan is the highest ever 3rd wicket partnership at the SSC, Colombo. The pair broke the previous record held by Aravinda De Silva and Asanka Gurusinha, who added 172 runs against Zimbabwe in the 1996 World Cup.
  • Pakistan's total of 343 for 5, is now the highest total against Hong Kong. The previous highest was Bangladesh's 221 for 9.
  • Younis Khan notched up his first One Day International century. His previous best was the 90 he made against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2002-03.

  • Shoaib Malik's 118 becomes his highest One Day International score. It bettered his previous highest of 115.
  • Afzaal Haider's 1 for 73 in 9 overs equals the record for the most runs conceded in a One Day International at the SSC, Colombo. He shares the record with Paul Strang (Zim) and Nilesh Kulkarni (Ind), both of who conceded 73 runs in their 10-over spells against India and Sri Lanka respectively.
  • Younis Khan's 144 becomes the second best ODI score by a Pakistan cricketer. The only person ahead of Younis Khan is Saeed Anwar, who made 194 against India in 1996-97.
  • Tabarak Dar's 36 is now his highest ODI score. It bettered his previous best of 20.
  • Tim Smart's 25 is now his highest ODI score. He bettered his previous best of 9.
  • Pakistan's 343 for 5 is now the highest total by any team in the Asia Cup.
  • Younis Khan's 144 is now the highest individual score in the Asia Cup. It bettered the previous best of 135*, by Sourav Ganguly.
  • Imran Farhat's 3 for 10 is now his best bowling figures in One Day Internationals. It bettered his previous best of 1 for 18.
  • Shoaib Malik's 4 for 19 are now his best returns in One Day Internationals. It bettered his previous best of 3 for 26.
  • Pakistan's 178-run win is the biggest margin of victory at the SSC, Colombo.
