  • Marvan Atapattu's 65 was his 47th ODI fifty, while for Sangakkara, his
    53 was his 14th ODI fifty.
  • Dravid became the fourth Indian cricketer to score 1000 runs in ODIs against Sri Lanka. The three cricketers to achieve this feat before Dravid were Mohammad Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
  • This was the first time India were playing three left arm seamers in their playing eleven.
  • Yuvraj Singh was playing his 100th One Day International

  • Sachin Tendulkar, with his 69th fifty has equalled the record for most half-centuries in ODIs along with Inzamam-ul-Haq
  • Sachin Tendulkar's 12 wickets in the Asia Cup was his best ever series
    bowling performance. It bettered his previous best of 8 wickets - which he picked up in the Wills Trophy featuring West Indies, New Zealand and India in 1994-95.
  • Sachin Tendulkar and Marvan Atapattu, both scored their 6th fifties in the Asia Cup. They now share the record for most fifties in the Asia cup with Inzamam-ul-Haq (Pak), Arjuna Ranatunga (SL) and Navjot Sidhu (Ind).
  • With his two wickets in the final, Sachin Tendulkar overtook Kapil Dev as India's leading wicket taker in the Asia Cup. Kapil Dev had bagged 15 wickets from 7 Asia Cup matches.
  • The title win was Sri Lanka's third Asia Cup victory. They had earlier won the trophy in 1985-86 & 1997-98.
  • The Asia Cup was the first trophy Sri Lanka had won under Marvan Atapattu as captain.
  • Sanath Jayasuriya, by virtue of his 15, became the leading run scorer at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He reached the 2000-ODI-runs milestone during yesterday's Final.
  • The 46-run 10th wicket partnership for India between Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan is now the best ever 10th-wicket partnership at the Premadasa Stadium. It bettered the previous record of 38 runs between Heath Streak and Ray Price (Vs Eng, Champions Trophy 2002)
