India v Australia - Day 2
VVS Laxman
3rd Test
113.2 White to Laxman, FOUR, there's his sixth Test hundred against Australia, and 13th overall, courtesy an orthodox cover drive when White offers him room, placement is immaculate and Laxman is all smiles, well played, and he makes a left-arm circular motion, like a bowler, to the dressing room

121.1 Lee to Gambhir, 1 run, make that 200, a first for Gambhir, courtesy a tuck off the ribs as Lee bowls short onto the body, he picks the gap behind square leg, off comes the helmet, up go the arms, down comes Laxman to embrace him and its been a treat to watch

128.5 Katich to Dhoni, no run, dropped, what it would have knocked a finger off Katich, or Aleem Dar's head! Dhoni rocks back and drills a short ball ferociously towards the umpire's head, Katich sticks a hand off it to take some pace off it and save Dar money for a face reconstruction, that was biffed with immense power and Dar goes forward to say thanks to Katich for saving him

138.5 Katich to Kumble, FOUR, there's India's 500 as Kumble paddles it very fine and past square leg

160.6 Clarke to Laxman, 2 runs, and there's his 200, finally, as he skips down and lofts the ball over mid-on, and with that comes the declaration from Kumble with India's score 613, Laxman takes off the helmet and waves the bat, as thats his second double century, both coming against Australia

VVS Laxman Laxman special puts India in driving seat

VVS Laxman scored an unbeaten 200 to help India score a mammoth 613 in the first innings in Delhi. He was involved in a massive partnership of 278 with Gautam Gambhir, the other double-centurion, and added a further 98 for the seventh wicket with Anil Kumble to strengthen India's grip on the game after their impressive show on the first day.
With the declaration imminent, Laxman stepped out of his crease and lofted Michael Clarke over mid on for a couple to bring up his second double century, the previous such feat being his epic 281 against the same opposition in Kolkata in 2001.
