New Zealand 1st innings

7.1 Sharma to McIntosh, OUT, It seemed inevitable. And it was. McIntosh has been tortured outside off by Ishant, rather by his own technique and has succumbed now. It landed on a length around off and middle, sucking McIntosh into a forward prod. Again, he didn't shift forward his weight well, ended up pushing at the ball on a walk and got the edge. Got to see replays to confirm whether McIntosh edged it or not. ... Oh it was bat on the pad and not wood on leather. The bat was pushed inside the line and the ball went past the edge .. Oh dear ..
TG McIntosh c Karthikwicketkeeper b Sharma 12 (29m 27b 2x4 0x6) SR: 44.44

New Zealand 21/1   MJ Guptill 7* (16b 1x4)   Z Khan 5-1-13-1

10.1 Khan to Guptill, OUT, Zaheer has bounced out Guptill. Done in by the surprise weapon. It kicked up at the face, a startled Guptill took his eyes off the ball, tried to fend it away by bringing up his gloves as a shield and the ball bobbed away, off the gloves, to gully where the fielder takes couple of steps before diving forward to take it. On a batting track, after chosing to bat first, New Zealand are wobbling.
MJ Guptill c Sehwag b Khan 8 (45m 21b 1x4 0x6) SR: 38.09

New Zealand 23/3   LRPL Taylor 0* (2b)   Z Khan 5.1-1-13-2

69.3 Harbhajan Singh to Taylor, OUT, Ross Taylor departs after an thrilling entertaining knock. It was the doosra outside off and Taylor tried to drag it from there with a slog sweep and skied it towards deep backward square leg where Yuvraj positions himself under the swirling ball and lunges sideways in the end to hold it.
LRPL Taylor c Yuvraj Singh b Harbhajan Singh 151 (262m 204b 26x4 1x6) SR: 74.01

New Zealand 294/4   JD Ryder 108* (159b 14x4 1x6)   Harbhajan Singh 20.3-5-51-1

110.2 Harbhajan Singh to Ryder, OUT, Franklin is run out. What a mess. He has himself to blame. It was slower, bit more air on the off and middle and was pushed to left of covers and Ryder calleds him over for a quick single. Franklin was not ready at all , didn't back up properly and was late to respond. The throw from Yuvraj comes in to Karthik who breaks the stumps.
JEC Franklin run out 52 (180m 122b 7x4 0x6) SR: 42.62

New Zealand 415/5   JD Ryder 172* (284b 20x4 1x6)   Harbhajan Singh 28.2-6-64-1

123.4 Khan to Ryder, OUT, The stumps are in disarray. Ryder has dragged one on. Fullish, outside off, Ryder, who just brought up the 200, went for the big drive and got the thick edge. It happens after a landmark. What a fine innings from the boy from Wairarapa. Ryder bangs his bat on the ground as he walks off.
JJD Ryder b Khan 201 (489m 328b 24x4 1x6) SR: 61.28

New Zealand 477/6   BB McCullum 31* (36b 3x4)   Z Khan 32.4-6-125-3

151.6 Sharma to Vettori, OUT, the one-two-three trick works as he bowls a fuller delivery this time around after three short deliveries. Vettori, falls for the trap and goes for the drive, managing only an inside-edge
DL Vettori b Sharma 55 (100m 72b 6x4 0x6) SR: 76.38

New Zealand 605/7   BB McCullum 104* (134b 11x4)   I Sharma 26-5-94-2

153.5 Sharma to McCullum, OUT, short delivery outside the off stump. McCullum, stands tall and slaps it straight to deep point, where Tendulkar not only takes the catch but also ensures that he keeps the dodgy finger out of the way
BB McCullum c Tendulkar b Sharma 115 (162m 140b 13x4 0x6) SR: 82.14

New Zealand 618/8   JS Patel 1* (5b)   I Sharma 26.5-5-95-3

154.4 Harbhajan Singh to Patel, OUT, Patel has to go! What a soft dismissal that as he whips it straight to midwicket and Ishant latches onto it. No mistakes this time around and whats more we have the declaration too
JS Patel c Sharma b Harbhajan Singh 1 (14m 9b 0x4 0x6) SR: 11.11

New Zealand 619/9   IE O'Brien 1* (1b)   Harbhajan Singh 41.4-7-120-2

India 1st innings

8.6 Vettori to Sehwag, OUT, outside the off stump. In fact, he could have had nothing to do with it, but then he looks to slog sweep it from outside the off stump and gets a faint edge back to McCullum, who does no mistakes
V Sehwag c McCullumwicketkeeper b Vettori 34 (39m 25b 5x4 1x6) SR: 136.00

India 48/1   G Gambhir 10* (30b 1x4)   D Vettori 1-0-10-1

16.6 Patel to Gambhir, OUT, and the move to get Patel into the attack works! Gambhir comes skipping down the track, is beaten in flight and tamely lobs a catch to Vettori at mid-off. He would be frustrated at throwing a start away
G Gambhir c Vettori b Patel 16 (77m 53b 1x4 0x6) SR: 30.18

India 73/2   R Dravid 42* (96b 8x4)   CS Martin 12.4-4-33-1

21.2 Vettori to Sharma, OUT, now there's the wicket! Ishant fails to pick the straight delivery and thrusts his pad in front of the bat. There is only one way to go and that is to pavilion
I Sharma lbw b Vettori 0 (14m 13b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

India78/3   R Dravid 20* (38b 2x4)   DL Vettori 4.2-0-16-2

45.1 Patel to Tendulkar, OUT, Jeetan catches the big fish. SRT is gone. It was curled outside off on a length, Tendulkar stretched across to push it to cover point for a single that would bring up his fifty but the ball held its line to take the edge and went to first slip. Neat dismissal from the offie. Tendulkar was looking good but he is gone now. Lovely moment for Jeetan Patel.
SR Tendulkar c Taylor b Patel 49 (98m 65b 7x4 1x6) SR: 75.38

India 165/4   55* (119b 8x4) 40* (106b 5x4)   JS Patel 7.1-1-26-2

77.6 Ryder to Dravid, OUT, The change to Jesse Ryder has done the trick. As it happens now and then in these situations with a change-up bowler, it was the short and wide delivery that does the trick. Dravid saw the length and the line, thought it was perfect to pick up a four, chased it, went for the square cut but edged it behind
R Dravid c McCullumwicketkeeper b Ryder 83 (282m 206b 12x4 0x6) SR: 40.29

India 246/5   VVS Laxman 51* (112b 10x4)     JD Ryder 1-0-2-1

88.2 Martin to Yuvraj Singh, OUT, Martin has struck, Yuvraj's technique against new ball is exposed. It was full in length and outside off, Yuvraj lunged out to drive, body in no position for the shot, no balance, and his intended cover drive settled into second slip's hands. And what's more, this is Martin's 150th Test wicket
Yuvraj Singh c McIntosh b Martin 0 (17m 11b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

India 253/6   VVS LAxman 58* (127b 11x4)   CS Martin 18.2-3-64-1

90.1 Martin to Karthik, OUT, Old 'new' ball or the new 'new' ball?! We have our answer now! Martin picks his 151th Test wicket! It was full in length and outside off stump, quite similar to the delivery that knocked out Yuvraj- perhaps, a touch wider- Karthik too lunged out to drive and got a nice thick fat edge to slips.
KD Karthik c Ryder b Martin 6 (38m 31b 1x4 0x6) SR: 19.35

India 270/7   VVS Laxman 67* (144b 12x4)   CS Martin 22.1-5-71-2

92.3 Martin to Laxman, OUT, Laxman departs. Martin is running hot. It was full in length, and cutting away a touch outside off, Laxman hung his bat out to dry and the edge flew to the slip cordon. Gone! The black caps are ruling.
VVS Laxman c McIntosh b Martin 76 (197m 149b 14x4 0x6) SR: 51.00

India 291/8   Harbhajan Singh 12* (9b 2x4)   CS Martin 23.3-5-82-3

93.4 O'Brien to Harbhajan Singh, OUT, Harbhajan Singh pings Martin at deep square leg. It was another bouncer, Harbhajan went for another pull but no so successful this time. Martin holds on to it. India tottering here at Napier.
Harbhajan Singh c Martin b O'Brien 18 (22m 11b 2x4 1x6) SR: 163.63

India 305/9   Z Khan 8* (5b)   IE O'Brien 13.4-4-66-1

93.5 O'Brien to Khan, OUT, India all out 305. New Zealand have scythed through after they took the new ball. It was short in length outside off, Zaheer flashed it over gully where Ryder intercepted with a well-timed jump! We don't know whether NZ have enforced the follow-on yet. But what a super hot phase for the hosts.
Z Khan c Ryder b O'Brien 8 (12m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 133.33

India 305/10   MM Patel 0* (0b)   IE O'Brien 13.5-4-66-2

India's 2nd innings

9.2 Patel to Sehwag, OUT, Jeetan Patel takes out Sehwag. You can also say Sehwag has taken out himself. It was floated on the off stump line, Sehwag went for the big swing over midwicket, on a bent knee and missed. The ball wobbled on to hit the back leg around the line of off stump. Critics will go after him for his shot selection, his supporters will say that's how he plays, why crib when he fails now and then.
V Sehwag lbw b Patel 22 (42m 21b 4x4 0x6) SR: 104.76

India 30/1   G Gambhir 8* (35b 1x4)   JS Patel 0.2-0-4-1

72.2 Vettori to Dravid, OUT, Caught at short leg! Vettori has broken through here. Dravid doesn't seem to be happy with the decision. And we can see why. The bat hit the pad and the ball bounded off the pad to short leg where How dives forward to take it. It drifted in from round the stumps on the leg and middle line, Dravid shaped to defend, the bat brushed the front pad. That must have been the double noise. A fine innings, though. India trail by 151 as SRT enters.
R Dravid c How b Vettori 62 (242m 220b 6x4 1x6) SR: 28.18

India 163/2   G Gambhir 75* (195b 10x4)   DL Vettori 15.2-4-29-1

111.3 Martin to Tendulkar, OUT, Martin removes Tendulkar. Full delivery outside off stump and shaping away slightly, Tendulkar reached out to drive and got the edge. McCullum lunged to his right to get that. That's what New Zealand wanted - a early wicket and what better than that of SRT. VVS walks out.
SR Tendulkar c McCullum b Martin 64 (167m 131b 9x4 1x6) SR: 48.85

India 260/3   G Gambhir 104* (299b 14x4)   CS Martin 20.3-6-51-1

159.4 Patel to Gambhir, OUT, Gambhir departs after a marvelous marathon effort. 642 minutes. It drifted in from round the stumps, landed on the middle and off and drifted towards leg. Hawk eye says it would have clipped the leg. McCullum was already pushing down leg. What a fine innings, though.
G Gambhir lbw b Patel 137 (643m 436b 18x4 0x6) SR: 31.42

India 356/4   VVS Laxman 58* (153b 10x4)   JS Patel 40.4-10-100-2
