5th ODI: Pakistan v India, 24 Mar 2004

Although Shoaib Malik and Moin Khan hit feisty half-centuries, the required run-rate was always going to be beyond them. The Indians knew that all too well; the celebrations started as soon as the tailenders' wickets started to fall. With every wicket, they got more vociferous and animated, and the fall of the final wicket was greeted with wild ecstasy. Even Sourav Ganguly braved his injury to welcome his team off the field. India had taken the series 3-2 with a convincing final-game victory, but - and to succumb shamelessly to a completely appropriate cliche - cricket has been the only real winner in this one-day series.
