Dean Conway, the Glamorgan physiotherapist, has been appointed as senior physio on the full England tour this winter to South Africa. His elevation comes after fulfilling the role with the England U19 and A sides, and then last winter with England's one-day squads for both the Wills International Cup in Dhaka and the Carlton and United one-day series in Australia. He takes over from Wayne Morton, who has filled the role, both at home and abroad, since late 1995.

Jacques Kallis has undergone further treatment on his injured stomach muscle, and was not selected for the Championship match against Lancashire at Blackpool. He will have further physiotherapy over the next few days and should be able to make his first appearance for Glamorgan in their National League game either at Trent Bridge against Nottinghamshire, or against Surrey at Pontypridd. Glamorgan officials are confident that the South African will be able to bowl again by the end of the month.
