Jacques Kallis will make his Championship debut for Glamorgan today as Glamorgan play Durham at Sophia Gardens, hoping to put aside the disappointments of their Nat West Trophy quarter-final defeat against Gloucestershire. "It`s up to the guys to pull themselves around," said captain Matthew Maynard. "We`ve still got a lot to play for, and anything can happen if you get on a roll."

Club secretary Mike Fatkin echoes these views. "I don`t think people appreciate how hard the players are trying to put things right, and it should be remembered that nine or ten of them won the County Championship two seasons ago, and they haven`t suddenly become bad players."

Kallis was awarded his county cap before the Nat West Trophy match with Gloucestershire, but his stomach muscle injury has still prevented him from bowling. Glamorgan officials hope that he will be able to bowl next week in the County Championship match against Surrey at The Oval.
