Opening of Mid Wales Outdoor Cricket Centre of Excellence

Glamorgan Star Andrew Davies will be opening the new Mid Wales Outdoor Cricket Centre of Excellence at Aberystwyth CC on Wednesday 9th July 2003 at 7 p.m. as Welsh Cricket's plan to set up centres of excellence in every corner of Wales continues to unfurl.

Aberystwyth Cricket Club are the proud owners of this new four bay outdoor net facility. The Mid Wales U11-U15 squads will be able to train at these brilliant net facilities as part of the Cricket Board of Wales Facility Plan.

Peter Brett - Mid Wales Cricket Development Officer said:

"This enhanced facility is endorsed and backed financially by the Sports Council for Wales and Aberystwyth CC. The purpose of building these centres will be to support the coaching of the most promising young cricketers in mid Wales in order that any young person with a talent has the opportunity to shine through."

Club Secretary Anthony Evans said:

"Our new four bay outdoor net facility is a marvellous facility for the club, community and the region. We are delighted with it and it has generated much interest in the club. We are all looking forward to Thursday 9th where everyone can see our vibrant junior section on show".
