Klaas van Noortwijk: A klaas apart

The last thing Namibia needed with Feiko Kloppenburg in full flow was for Klass van Noortwijk to come to the party. So, naturally enough, van Noortwijk did exactly that. Hitting up a storm in making 134 off just 129 balls, van Noortwijk followed Kloppenburg into the books as the second centurion from the Netherlands. And what a century! Van Noortwijk hit three towering sixes and 11 fours in his knock, pulverising the Namibian bowlers without mercy. He remained, to boot, unbeaten at the end of it all, helping his side to what proved a match-winning total of 314 for four in their 50 overs.

Bowler:

Adeel Raja

Adeel Raja: Tailspinning Namibia

Born in Lahore, Adeel Raja may perhaps be said to have spin-genes already embedded in him. He certainly put them to good effect against Namibia, sending down 8.5 overs of shrewd off-spin to pick four wickets for just 42 runs, helping to bundle them out for 250 in 46.5 overs. His role was more that of a finisher, and Raja took the last four wickets of the innings, bringing about a swift end to the Namibian challenge.

Fielder:

Jeroen Smits: Upcoming stumper

Along with Ashish Bagai, Jeroen Smits of the Netherlands has been one of the more impressive stumpers of this World Cup. Neat and immaculate behind the stumps, Smits has quicksilver gloves and a temperament to match. He may have effected only one dismissal against Namibia, but it was a good epitome of his wicket-keeping. Sarel Burger was defeated completely by an Adeel Raja off-break, and Smits efficiently snapped up the ball and whipped the bails off - a fine dismissal indeed.
