1. What is Genie?

2. How to launch Genie?

Select the Genie icon from your phone menu to launch Genie.

3. OK. I launched it, now it asks me about access point. What do I do?

Genie is a connected application. It uses GPRS to fetch the data. Please select the same ‘access point’ you use to browse the WAP sites.

4. It asks me that should I allow Cricinfo Genie to use network and send or receive data. What do I do?

Please press the left soft key to allow Genie to send and receive the data. Cricinfo Genie uses GPRS to fetch data. Be sure it doesn’t transmit any sensitive information across.

5. It keeps asking me that should I allow Cricinfo Genie to use network and send or receive data. Is there any way I can turn it off?

To stop Genie prompting you every time, please follow these instructions:

On Nokia phones:

  • Please navigate to ‘Menu > Manager/Application Manager’.
  • Choose Cricinfo Genie from the list
  • Now press Left soft key to view the Options menu for the application.
  • Select ‘Settings’ from the Option menu.
  • Now change ‘Network access’ settings from ‘Ask every time’ to ‘Ask first time’.
  • Launch Genie. Now you would not be prompted about connection, again and again.

On Sony Ericsson phones:

  • Go to the Games/Application section wherever Cricinfo Genie you have installed
  • Choose Cricinfo Genie and click on "More"
  • Go to Permissions > Internet Access
  • Set the permission to "Ask Once"
  • Launch Genie now

6. How could see the list of live matches?

Once after you launch Genie, you would be forwarded to a menu where you could see list of live matches across the globe. Select one to start viewing the simulation of the selected live match.
You can press the right soft key to navigate to the main menu of Genie.
From main menu you can select Results, Schedule, Statistics, News and Trivia and of course Live action.

7. I missed some of the action at the beginning. Can I see the highlights?

During a live match, press the left soft key to navigate to the menu. Now select ‘Highlights’ to view the boundaries and dismissals that happened during the inning.
Genie shows up to 30 boundaries and all the dismissals in the ‘Highlights’.
You can switch back to ‘Live action’, by navigating to the menu again.

8. How can I see the scorecard?

During a Live match, press the right soft key to navigate to the menu. Now select ‘Batting scorecard’ to view the scorecard of the current inning.

9. I get ‘Network Error’ and ‘Failed to connect’ messages. What do I do?

Genie is a connected application. You would get such an error message when the application is not able to connect to the data server. You may be in a weak signal area or there could be temporary network congestion. If this problem persists, please contact customer support.

10. Why does it keep repeating a ball again and again?

Occasionally, data on the server doesn’t get refreshed and Genie gets the data for the ball it has simulated recently. As a result it plays the simulation of the ball again.

11. I keep getting error like ‘Failed to connect’ on my K700i. What do I do?

  • On Sony Ericsson K700i, navigate to ‘Menu > Connectivity’
  • Now select ‘Settings for JAVA’ from the menu.
  • Now select same Access Point you use to browse the WAP sites from the list.
  • Launch Genie.
