Apart from his ability with the ball, people are beginning to sit up and take notice of the ease with which Harbhajan Singh wields the willow. Although many bowlers, the names of Javagal Srinath and Ajit Agarkar spring to mind immediately, have shown a bit of ability with the bat and then failed to deliver, Harbhajan Singh seems to be a bit different. A tall lad with a fluent stroke of the bat, the off spinner can hit the ball cleanly when required. With a Ranji Trophy century to his credit, Harbhajan Singh also has the confidence required to take on bowlers of all kinds. In the recently concluded tour against Australia, the fourth one-dayer was the platform for Harbhajan Singh’s 34 ball 46. Clouting the ball to all parts of the park, the young Punjabi showed that he had both the guts and the innovation to take on bowling of the highest quality.
