A men's selection panel made up of Sir Richard Hadlee, Ian Smith and John F Reid, and a women's panel of Debbie Hockley, Lesley Murdoch and John F Reid have named three nominees for each of the major awards to be presented on the evening.
The awards are for performances spanning the period April 2001-April 2002 (crossing the 2000/01, 2001 and 2001/02 seasons). The series covered by this are:
International: ARY Gold Cup in Sharjah (2000/01); Coca-Cola Cup in Sri Lanka (2001); NZ in Australia, VB Series in Australia, Bangladesh in NZ, England in NZ (2001/02).
Domestic: State Max, State Shield, State Championship (2001/02).
Women's: NZ Women in Australia, Australia Women in NZ, State League (2001/02).
