New Zealand Cricket Inc - 108th Annual Report - 2001/02

A N N U A L   R E V I E W
International Cricket Council (ICC)

For a variety of reasons, the year in review has been demanding and, at times, very difficult for the ICC and its new Chief Executive, Malcolm Speed.

During this period the anti-corruption recommendations detailed in the Condon Report have been substantially implemented and there is genuine hope that corruption in international cricket has been effectively stopped.

The ICC Test Championship ranking system was introduced during the year with, predictably, Australia taking the number one position but with New Zealand steadily working its way up the ladder to number four by the end of May 2002.

New Zealand representatives at ICC level during the year were Sir John Anderson (Executive Board), Martin Snedden (Cricket Committee - Management) and John F Reid (Cricket Committee - Playing).

An ICC Cricket Committee - Management meeting, involving the Chief Executives from all 10 Test playing countries as well as representatives from associate countries, was held in Christchurch in early February 2002, to coincide with the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
