Marketing Manager

Basic Job brief:
  • To raise the overall profile of Cricinfo brand in India amongst the various stakeholders – cricket fans, Cricket board, various media houses, advertisers, agencies, distribution partners (Telcos, ISPs, Magazine distributors) etc.
  • To create consumer awareness and raise the profile of Cricinfo’s products in India – mobile, online and magazine
  • To look at both, increasing the consumer base and extent of usage of various products over the years
Job responsibilities
  • To draw up a plan to effectively raise the profile of Cricinfo brand in India through various strategic tie ups and marketing means
  • To also draw up and implement various tactical marketing initiatives to aid the growth of online, mobile and magazine businesses of Cricinfo
  • To work closely with magazine partners to ensure cross promotion of various properties of Cricinfo in India and leverage opportunities to market Cricinfo’s online and mobile products through the various programs & products of Infomedia (events, magazine, other products etc.)
Online
  • To implement various marketing initiatives to ensure Cricinfo is the default online destination for cricket content in India (grow the current user base, understand user expectations)
  • To implement marketing plans to ensure Cricinfo is not only a preferred choice of online cricket from office but also from public access points and also homes
  • To effectively promote Cricinfo’s various online products in various media (TV, print, ground level, online and radio) to ensure brand recall and also to increase the user base
  • Use PR as an effective marketing tool to raise the overall profile of Cricinfo website (ensure coverage of major innovations, record traffic, advertiser benefits etc.)
  • To understand the current need gaps in the product offerings and suggest product innovations
  • Track competitor product innovations on an ongoing basis and suggest product development plan to be taken up internally
Mobile
  • Increase the awareness of Cricinfo’s mobile offerings across various operators globally
  • To draw up and implement an effective media strategy & plan to achieve the above objective within the stipulated budget (to ensure consumer awareness, uptake of products and also increasing usage of the mobile service)
  • Look at an effective mix of TV, events, print, radio and online media to ensure tactical marketing of Cricinfo’s mobile content on offer across telcos globally
  • To also implement various direct marketing initiatives in partnership with telcos in a clear win-win model
  • Should be able to draw up and implement various BTL marketing programs across cities and towns in the country
  • To increase awareness of Cricinfo’s mobile brand, mobile short code (across markets) and also to market various innovative games, contests, content and other applications on offer on Cricinfo mobile
  • To use PR effectively to raise the profile of Cricinfo’s mobile offerings
  • To understand and gauge consumer needs on mobile (cricket entertainment needs)
  • To track competitor products innovations & offers on an ongoing basis and suggest product development plan to be taken up internally
Ideal profile
  • Should love cricket
  • At least 3-4 years in marketing function in reputed media companies in India (TV, print, radio, online or mobile); star performers in other sectors (travel and tourism, FMCG, airlines, reputed apparel brands) will also be considered based on track record
  • Should have successfully drawn and implemented marketing programs across the country
  • Good market perspective (in terms of consumer behavior, recent trends etc.)
  • Should be able to independently handle media buying across media based on the media plans drawn up
  • Should be able to liaise independently with PR agency, event management companies and magazine partners
  • Should be conversant with media planning tools
  • Should be able to effectively conceive and implement various direct marketing programs to a large base
  • Should be able to implement various types of BTL marketing programs
  • Should be comfortable with technology, mobile devices and gizmos
  • MBAs preferred

Mobile Business development managers

Basic Job brief:
  • To grow Cricinfo’s mobile value added services business in the mobile domain through strategic deals with telcos in India and other Asian countries
Job responsibilities
  • To build strategic tie ups with telcos to ensure usage of Cricinfo’s various mobile VAS products by their subscribers
  • Working closely with the marketing team to popularize Cricinfo’s short code and its content on access to cricket fans
  • To configure and close deals with other portals, content providers, and intermediaries
  • To increase revenues through various subscription based mobile offerings and also pull based consumer offerings in the SMS, Voice, MMS, and Gaming domain
  • To maintain the relationship with telcos, portals, intermediaries, content providers to ensure overall growth of Cricinfo’s mobile business
  • To conceptualize & implement advertisement and sponsorship models on the mobile platform using Cricinfo’s various products and its customer reach
Ideal profile
  • Should love cricket
  • At least 2-3 years experience in value added services department in telcos or portals. Alternately 4-5 years experience in sales /business development role in content syndication function in media companies (TV, print, radio, online or mobile) will be preferred; star performers in sales/business development in other sectors like travel and tourism, FMCG, airlines, reputed apparel brands will also be considered based on track record
  • Should be comfortable with technology and willing to learn cutting edge mobile and digital media technologies
  • Good market perspective (in terms of consumer behavior, recent trends etc.)
  • Should be able to manage key relationships to grow the business
  • MBAs preferred
