Match State: Delay - Day 5 - Rain

Good morning from The Oval. Very heavy rain in London and across
most of the UK this morning, and the forecast is for it to
continue for some time.
So at the moment there is no chance of a prompt start, and whilst
there is no official news from the umpires as yet, its also
unlikely there will be any play before lunch.
Check CricInfo.com throughout the morning and we'll keep you up to
date with the latest developments.
Update 12pm (1100 GMT) - The rain is unfortunately still falling
steadily, showing no signs of stopping. Indeed the weather
forecast is for it to continue for many hours yet, possibly later
than 6pm.
Were the rain to stop it would take at least two and a half hours
to get the ground fit for play.
At the moment though it looks as if we have seen the last Test
cricket in England this summer.
More news as and when we receive it.
News from The Oval: Match has been abandoned
Heavy downpour and all that water all around have convinced the
umpires that there is no possibility of any cricket today.

The npower Test series ends 1-1
Man of the Match: Rahul Dravid
Man of the Series: Michael Vaughan
Well, Vaughan was named the England Man of the Series
The Indian Man of the Series: Rahul Dravid
This is the first Test match day's play to be completely washed out
at The Oval since July 26 1980 against West Indies.
Not that the day's play would have produced a result in this Test,
as Hussain rightly put it," A bridge too far"
It stayed a flat track for the first four days and there were no
reasons to believe that wickets would have tumbled on the final
day
This is not exactly the kind of track that would produce a result,
as Indians would testify it, the batting belters in the sub-
continent have produced a lot of runs, and so we saw at The Oval
too
Rahul Dravid and Michael Vaughan scored a lot of runs in the series
and took the Man of the Series award
England won the first Test at Lord's, India saved the second Test
and went on to win at Leeds in the third Test.
A very rare away Test win for the Indians.
The Indian batsmen would have struggled on bouncy tracks, well the
nature of pitch has played a very crucial role in the outcome of
the series. Both the teams would feel happy withthe final result
1-1
