Every Test-playing nation is represented in Canada's cricket community, and nearly all of the developing cricket playing countries. Grounds
Plentiful choice, many are astroturf, particularly in the west but there are also grounds with grass outfields and matting wickets. Lovely settings, particularly in Vancouver.
Opposition
Vancouver-Victoria would readily be able to host, and would provide a glimpse of the cultural difference between two cities. The jurisdiction is Cricket BC.
On the other side of the Rockies, a twinning tour to Calgary-Edmonton in Alberta would be viable and would provide a snow covered mountain vista in the background with an opportunity to see Banff and Lake Louise - (two jewels for tourists). The jurisdiction is The Alberta Cricket Association.
For those who would like a look at the Prairies, there is a triangle of cricket in the environs of Winnipeg, Regina and Saskatoon. The jurisdiction is Manitoba C.A. and the Saskatchewan C.A. in Ontario cricket is divided into four regional associations. The province has the most clubs and cricketers. Within a two hours of Toronto tourist can find Niagara Falls and cricket to the south west.
The face of cricket in Canada is representative of cricket around the world.
Entertainment
Canada's multicultural approach to life ensures there is something for everyone.
Conclusion
Canada is proud of its long cricket history, and eager to share it with the rest of the cricketing world. While the climate makes preparation of grass wickets almost impossible, a warm welcome in a very friendly country is almost guaranteed. |
